What do I need to vote?

All that you need is a compatible phone with Java and Wap.
As a rule of thumb, if you have a colour screened Nokia, Sony-Ericsson, Motorola, Sharp or Siemens (and lets face it 90% of you do) it should work just fine. Check here for a list of phone which are definitely compatible.
If in doubt, call your operator, it’s what you pay them all that money for!

How much does it cost?

You'll pay your operator a token amount to download it (could be less than a penny) and that's it!

Why do you call it 'viral'? Will it break my phone?

The game is 'viral' as it lets you pass it between friends for free - in fact it positively encourages it, as you're given the option to text a link straight to your friends from inside the game. In marketing speak that's called viral; it has nothing to do with computer virusses, Internet worms and the like!

Can I vote in any country?

Yes, all you need is a phone with Java and WAP (ie. virtually any recent colour mobile phone), and preferably GPRS. See first question for further details!

Will you store my phone number and use it to spam me in the future?

No, in fact chances we'll never know your phone number. You're vote is anonymous so Bush/Kerry wont invade your country if you and bunch of pals vote against them and they then get in. We’ll they might, but they’ll be looking for WMD or some such, so that’ll be ok then.

What about if I e-mail a friend?

Ditto.

What if I'm a card carrying party member and vote for the opposition - can the party track me down and break my kneecaps?

Well, the only way to track down your vote and tie it to you would be to sub-poena your phone operator and go through their records working out when you contacted our servers - if they can do that they can even find out where you were standing when you did it. One of the two candidates (no names here) has been very proactive in making legislation to make this sort of thing easier; we wouldn't like to suggest this should influence your vote because that would probably get us labelled terrorists or something.

How do I find Wap on my phone?

Every handset is different; on a Nokia you go to Services, on other phones it could be labelled Wap, Internet, Bookmarks etc. The Download page has more instructions and some screenshots which might help.

Some operators have started to customise handsets and make Wap harder to find; for example on a Sony-Ericsson T610 from Orange you go to Orange Services, then when the front page appears go More > Enter Address. On a Sharp GX, you are safest creating a new bookmark under 'My Stuff'. If you can't find Wap please ask your operator; whilst you're there you might also ask them to stop hiding the Wap menu item behind their own premium content services as it's very irritating.
